The engagement period is technically a getting-to-know stage for the couple, when the partners can talk about their dreams and plans as a couple (like family size, place to raise kids, etc.) or iron out kinks to prepare for living together (work schedule, habits, religion, etc.). However, today, engagement is more of a formal announcement by the couple and is used for dramatic posterity. Many couples would have been living together for a while even before the engagement. Still, an engagement announcement is an unforgettable moment that both of you (and your friends) can talk about into your old age. So, yes, go ahead and plan for that day when you'll be kneeling in front of her and slipping a Hearts on Fire diamond ring into her finger. Both of you deserve the moment.
Hearts On Fire is available at Schwarzschild's at Short Pump Town Center.
